Update
Being an avid internet surfer with various interests including mangas, I know how it is. There are times when you think to yourself “How long has it been since series xy was last released by someone? What’s happening with that?”.
Or there is something else that people could update you on, and if it doesn’t happen you get frustrated.
As a fan of sports managing games like football manager (not the english version though) or grand prix world, you always look for new games like that. And just like with games a la monkey island, Forumla 1 manager games are not a big field. But there are efforts to do them by the fanbase itself (just like indy scumm games). But progress is slow and you hate the people more if they can’t even spare the time to write the smallest thing. Some people have been working on a decent looking forumla 1 games for YEARS, with little to no progress and even less news. So I used to even worse things than most manga fans, but the short point of it is, I know how you feel.
So why not let you know. Didn’t have much of a vacation to be honest. I took the time to do some origami roses as a present and thank you for some people. Even though I know how long it takes to fold one rose, calyx, leafs and stem, somehow I failed to anticipate how long it would take to do that 24 fucking times. So that’s what I did all this time. I couldn’t even play a single minute of a game.
And I need to do one more, and for someone who means more to me. So it has to be the best one I have ever done, with a harder rose variation. I’ll probably start on the next chapter to get a short pause before that, but I won’t really get into scanlating after my birthday and the weekend is over.
But I hope you guys (and girls) had a great new years.

This is why people always seem to prefer blog based translators or small groups that have a personality (A-team for one). It sort of keeps perspective of time and other restraints. It seems more calming when we can see how you are doing, and we can sympathize or agree with the demands of life.
I am unsure if this is true for most others but, I never cared for when something is released. Instead I just only hoped that the series (whether it be a game, translation, etc) will be continued. As you said, the biggest fear is the unknown. Sort of like with series like Yureka (Id_entity) or even with sequels to games or movies. Scanslators come and go like crazy and you never know when one group keels over, and when someone else will take it back up.
I hope you create an origami flower that pleases both you and your significant other. Best wishes to finding more time, whether quality with family or time alone to vegetate, work, or even read a good book.
Anyways, belated happy holidays from a long time leacher.

I don’t remember the new years.

Dude, take your time, from what I have seen, you have a very good average time between releases. DB is quite long, and I would rather hope you rest between chapters and release at a reasonable rate, instead of getting fed up eventually and putting it in hold.
Also, it is very important to take care of those important to us. and I envy you the patience to do LOTS of origami. Is there a site with the design you are doing?

I learned how to do it from bloom4ever.com
The 24 roses I did were qt roses because I can do them best and like how they look. With Superior calyx, hollow stem and single origami leafs.
But for the other rose I want to go with jewelry rose or new swirls kawasaki rose (I haven’t done either before). The fan calyx, cb superior calyx or do an idea for a new one I had in mind that has another 4 smaller petals curling down. And maybe more intricate wire leaf. Because I bite my nails and doing the single leafs is not done easy without them. And the wire simulates the veins nicely. If I lay them like the veins in the single leaf that should work. And I’d like to make it look more real. A rose (and leaf) has imperfections after all. There are no nice curves.
That’s the plan at least.

Cool, thanks for the update. Take however long you want.
Stuff like this gives me hope that at least you won’t someday just up and disappear without a word. And that’s the least I would ask. Your release speed for DB is fine as it is, given the quality of your work.
Happy 2012 and all that.

Happy New Year.
I have to say your work on Dragon Ball is the cleanest version I have ever seen. I would also have to say the translation is very well done also. With around 42 volumes, anyone working on this will need the occasional break.
So enjoy your rest, and have fun taking it.

Since this is the kanzenban release, it’s only 34 volumes with increased chapter count in each of them.

I think he was more referring to the overal series. Kinda like “With a series this long, anyone working…”.
But of course you’re right. Since these are Kanzenban releases we are actually further along. About half-way through volume 10 of the tank releases.
