Dragon Ball v09 ch131 – Tian Jinfan’s Distress!
Here’s the new chapter. Things are heating up in the fight. Three more chapters until the Tournament and the volume is done. And then we are heading into a new adventure.
Also, there are two new Dragonball scanlation attempts running. One starting from the arbitrarily choosen point when the Buu saga starts, also using the kanzenban raws. It’s an improvement over the crude complete scanlation that is out there, but not as nice as mine. I really don’t have a better way to say it without sounding like a arrogant dick, sorry. Totally readable of course but not much different than the raw.
The other one is the release of the manga done by viz that is fully colored. And beautifully colored I might say. Much better than the full color chapters in the kanzenban version. And the colors are not as dirty with blocks, so it would be not as much work (sigh). Apparently they start releasing the manga on a weekly basis starting when Radditz shows up. Two chapters are done so far, but they will release the whole series and the scanlator plans to release it too. And as the manga comes up he’ll supply me with the raw pages to some of the great panels and pages in the series. I’ll clean those my way and improve on them and release them as artwork along with my releases. It will take some time until more chapters are out before I get some, but I’m looking forward to it.
The other thing is something I found out when I was on this guys site. There were some questions about the release and he posted a link to a site that let’s you compare screenshots. You drag the mouse over one thumbnail and it switches quickliy between raw and scanlation. That was something I wanted to do in the past to give people an insight into how big a change there is between raw and my scanlation. Since the reader only sees the finished page while I can easily hide the layer I’m working on in photshop and switch back and forth. Which is the only good way to compare it. I thought about doing it by making a gif that does just that. But even though I have Photoshop CS5, I couldn’t figure it out. And since that was the only way I knew how to make something that might work I dropped the idea. But with this site that he used, I should be able to do it one of these days.
Anyway, enjoy.

Feanor, I thank you for another chapter done.
February 19, 2013 at 3:54 am
Thanks for the chapter , too bad no longer on batoto.
February 19, 2013 at 7:59 am
It will probably be uploaded to there the next days. It hasn’t been out that long, and I’m not the one putting the chapters on there.
February 19, 2013 at 8:03 am
i think he is referring to the fact that batoto has stopped keeping any Dragon ball chapter,as apparently Viz has asked them to stop.
February 19, 2013 at 11:38 pm
Ah. Didn’t know that. Makes sense though. Now that Viz is launching their own release digitally, they probably don’t want the competition. Hmmmm. Let’s just hope they don’t get a hold of me.
February 19, 2013 at 6:01 pm
Quite so as santoryuu said , i would know since i upload them at batoto afterall.

I just curious, according to http://dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_Dragon_Ball_manga_chapters#Volume_9:_Test_Of_The_All-Seeing_Crone volume 9 starting from chapter 97 but in your release starting from chapter 120, it’s big difference… perhaps you mistaken it… ^_^ correct me if i’m wrong
February 19, 2013 at 8:06 am
The information on wiki is correct. But there are two different versions of it. The Tankōbon version that has 42 volumes and the Kanzenban version that has 34 volumes, which is the one I’m using. Since there are less volumes every one has more chapters in it. So the numbering is different. But overall it’s the same amount/number of chapters.
February 19, 2013 at 5:04 pm
Not that the info is bad in this case, but people gotta stop looking for info at DB Wikia…
February 19, 2013 at 7:59 am
thanks for the release.and Feanor,we know how horrible the raw is.fear not.
February 19, 2013 at 8:12 am
Hey I have been reading dragonball and just wanted to thank you for the exceptional job you do, I even enjoy the rants at the begining of each chapter. Thank you so much for the beautifull high quality work
February 19, 2013 at 10:08 am
Thanks again Feanor! And yeah I’d love to see the difference between the sclanations and the raw.
February 19, 2013 at 3:41 pm
Thanks Feanor! It’s great to hear you have a source for the raws for that digital full color release and that you’re not going to give up your awesome version of DB. Keep it up buddy
February 19, 2013 at 4:55 pm
Also, the first 20 digital tankoban volumes have been released in Japan already by Shueisha (Viz just handles the English edition), they came out February 4th, so everything up until Raditz is available in Japan. The weekly release starting with the Saiyan saga is for Viz’s digital magazine & Shueisha’s Japanese print releases. It seemed you were still confused on that.
February 19, 2013 at 4:57 pm
It also seems they sell the Japanese digital version in both color AND BLACK AND WHITE!! This could save you some time on the normal chapters as well, though you’d have to regroup every thing into the kanzenban format
February 19, 2013 at 11:43 pm
That would depend really. After all I already have the black and white manga version in digital format. It would only help if a). I could get my hand on them without paying for it (I paid for the 42 hardcopies, that’s enough) and b). If the digital black/white version they put out is an improvement over the kanzenban version. Regrouping the chapters to fit either style is not that much of problem. At least not making the Tankoban into kanzenban format (for it to work the other way around I’d need to have the tankoban covers and stuff).

Thanks Feanor for another awesome release.
BTW, could you give the links of the two other sites that have those new scanlations?
February 20, 2013 at 10:15 am
Never mind, found them.
March 3, 2013 at 4:59 am
whoa, i can’t find ‘em…could you help me out? specially the one that starts at the majin boo saga. i’m reading a spanish one that ends right before that, i think,, it would really help.. pretty please..anyone…

Go to mangaupdates.com. type “Dragon ball” in the search field. Select the manga title Dragon Ball. Scroll down to latest releases. The one doing the buu saga is called “Z Quality Scans”. Select it, In the line of the website for this group click on “click here”. And you are on their website.
I know I could’ve given you the link to their site, but you really need to learn how to do this in some way (because you could also search directly for the group name instead of going over the manga).
And if you can’t get there from this instruction, there is no helping you, I’m sorry
March 3, 2013 at 10:26 pm
thank you so very much. by the way, your work will always be the best around. what you did with the color chapters was almost mystic (=
February 20, 2013 at 10:36 am
Thanks a lot, cool chapter
February 23, 2013 at 5:45 pm
Thanks for the new chapter Feanor! DBZGTKOSDH, do you know where the links of the two other sites for the fully colored chapters are?
February 23, 2013 at 5:50 pm
Thanks for the new chapter Feanor! DBZGTKOSDH, do you know where the links of the two other sites for the fully colored chapters are?
February 24, 2013 at 7:29 pm
Only one of those sites is doing the fully colored Dragonball version from viz. You can find the links to both on mangaupdates.com when you search fpr Dragonball. That is the most important website you have to know when it comes to manga.

Thanks a lot for the all high quality releases. I just started dragon ball manga and 131 chapters was a smooth sail but after that i just don’t even want to look at old releases. 350px maximum width and yet so bad quality. And i really doubt i found bad source because usually mangatraders choose best quality and replace them whenever possible.
Now if only this has been all done up till now. BUT still better late than never. You’re doing a brilliant job. Keep it up.
February 27, 2013 at 2:13 am
The hell with anybody else’s scans. There’s one spot for DB for me and it’s right here. The way you present Dragonball makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, like a snow day and no work or something. The best work hands down…quite possibly of any manga group. Would love to see the comparison as well. I’m sure you bust your ass more than any of us know. We can only be so grateful for the service you do for the English speaking Dragonball fans. You’re an ace performer in my book.
As always, many, many thanks.
February 27, 2013 at 8:06 pm
Many thanks. I appreciate it.
March 18, 2013 at 2:01 pm
Simply want to say thank you~
March 25, 2013 at 10:20 pm
YOU ARE THE MAN!!!! This quality spoils me =)
April 11, 2013 at 11:54 am
Feanor, do you know if the guy(s) who do the Full Color scans have abandoned the project?
April 11, 2013 at 4:36 pm
Well, you’ve seen their website. Nothing is happening. I doubt that’s because viz hasn’t released a new chapter since their last release. If that was the case, the guy would’ve at least wrote a comment. Even if he got a c&d from viz (I imagine that they try to protect this new version they’re putting out) he could’ve at least said so. It’s a shame he didn’t stick around for at least a bit longer.
